Expressive play therapy is a child-led approach that provides a safe, non-judgemental environment where the child can express complex emotions and experiences, through play and creative means thereby offering a developmentally appropriate way for them to process things they are not yet able to verbalize.  Playroom materials allow a child the freedom of exploration and expression, while the counsellor’s role is to be attuned to the child in the present moment by following, supporting and gently guiding the child, helping them make connections between expression and emotions, enhancing their self-awareness, coping skills and communication.

Lynette recognizes that reaching out for help can be difficult.  Therefore, she understands the importance of providing a compassionate, non-judgemental, and confidential space, in order to build a feeling of safety for the client.  Life experiences can often leave an individual feeling overwhelmed, so this safety, combined with their innate ability to move towards healing, can provide the conditions imperative for growth.
